5. Loading and Unloading Pellets

A. Loading Pellets

• Unload all of the BBs from the airgun (See Section 4B). DO NOT load a pellet when

BBs are loaded in the airgun. It may cause a jam.

• Make sure the airgun is "ON SAFE" (See Section 2A).

• Point the airgun in a SAFE DIRECTION.

• Open the barrel by squeezing the barrel release tabs until the barrel pops open as

shown in Fig. 6. DO NOT PULL THE BARREL UPWARD BEYOND THIS POINT. This

could damage your airgun.

• Insert a .177 caliber (4.5 mm) pellet nose first into the barrel. (Fig. 7). IMPORTANT: To

avoid jams or deforming the pellets, make sure the pellet skirt is flush with the back of

the barrel.

• This is a single shot pellet airgun. Load no more than one pellet at a time.

• Close the barrel by pressing down on the barrel until it snaps shut.

B. Unloading Pellets

1. Unloading by Firing

NOTE: The airgun must be charged with CO

when following these steps, but remember,

do not store your airgun with a full CO2 Powerlet.

• Make sure the airgun is "ON SAFE" (See Section 2A).

• Point the airgun in a SAFE DIRECTION, take the airgun "OFF SAFE" (See Section

2B) and fire.

• Put the airgun back "ON SAFE" (See Section 2A).

2. Unloading without firing

• Make sure the airgun is "ON SAFE" (See Section 2A).

• Point the airgun in a SAFE DIRECTION.

• Remove the CO

powerlet (See Section 3B).

• Open the barrel by squeezing the barrel release tabs until the barrel pops open as

shown in Fig. 7. DO NOT PULL THE BARREL UPWARD BEYOND THIS POINT.

This could damage your airgun.

• Run a ramrod all the way through the barrel starting at the muzzle (Fig. 8) until the pellet falls out.

• Do not reuse the pellet.

6. Aiming and Firing Safely

A. Aiming and Firing the Airgun

• Always point your airgun in a SAFE DIRECTION.

• Follow the instructions for inserting CO

(Section 3A) and loading (Section

4A or 5A).

• You and others with you should always wear shooting glasses to protect

your eyes.

• Do not shoot at hard surfaces or at the surface of water. The pellet may bounce

off or ricochet and hit someone or something you had not intended to hit.

• Always choose your target carefully. For example, you may wish to shoot

at paper bull's-eye targets that are attached to a safe backstop such as the Crosman 850 Target Trap. A heavy blanket

should be hung behind the Target Trap to prevent ricochet should you miss the backstop.

• Your airgun is designed for target shooting and is suited for both indoor and outdoor use. Always

remember to place your target carefully. THINK about what you will hit if you miss the target.

• The airgun is correctly aimed when the front sight blade is positioned exactly in the center of the

notch of the rear sight. The top of the front sight blade should be even with the top of the notch

in the rear sight. The bull's-eye should appear to rest on the top of the front sight. (Fig. 9)

• When you are sure of your target and backstop, and the area around the target is clear, take

the airgun "OFF SAFE" (See Section 2B) and pull the trigger to fire.

B. Sight Adjustment

Move the rear sight in the same direction you want the pellet to hit on the target.

Elevation Adjustment: Turn screw clockwise to move point of impact up, turn screw counter-

clockwise to move point of impact down. (Fig 10)

Windage Adjustment: Turn screw clockwise to move point of impact to right and

counterclockwise to move point of impact to left.

7. Removing a Jammed Pellet

• Make sure the airgun is "ON SAFE" (See Section 2A).

• Point the airgun in a SAFE DIRECTION.

• Remove the CO

cartridge from your gun (See Section 3B.)

• Open the barrel by squeezing the barrel release tabs until the barrel pops open as

shown in Fig. 7. DO NOT PULL THE BARREL UPWARD BEYOND THIS POINT.

This could damage your airgun.

• Run a ramrod all the way through the barrel starting at the muzzle (Fig. 8) until the

pellet falls out.

• Do not reuse the pellet.

If you are not able to unjam your airgun by following the unloading procedure, take no further action. An Authorized Service

Station will unjam your airgun (no cost during the warranty period).

8. Maintaining Your Airgun

• Before you attempt to oil your airgun, make sure the gun is "ON SAFE",

unloaded, and the CO

cylinder has been removed. (See Sections 2A, 3B

and 4B )

• Your airgun will maintain proper function longer if you oil it every 250 shots.

Put a drop of Crosman Pellgunoil ®) directly on the threaded portion of the

piercing lever (Fig. 11).

• Putting 1 drop of Crosman Pellgunoil® on the tip of every CO2 cylinder will

also help to maintain your airgun. DO NOT use petroleum distillate based

oil or solvent and DO NOT over-oil as this can cause damage to your

airgun.

8. Reviewing Safety

•Never point the airgun at any person or at anything you do not intend to shoot.

•Always treat the airgun as though it is loaded and with the same respect you would a firearm.

•Always aim in a SAFE DIRECTION. Always keep the muzzle of the airgun pointed in a SAFE DIRECTION.

•Always keep the airgun "ON SAFE" until you are ready to shoot.

•Always check to see if the airgun is "ON SAFE" and unloaded when getting it from another person or from storage.

•Always keep your finger off the trigger and out of the trigger guard until ready to shoot.

•You and others with you should always wear shooting glasses to protect your eyes.

•If your reading or prescription glasses are not safety glasses, make sure you wear shooting glasses over your regular glasses.

•Use the proper size pellet (.177 caliber) for your airgun.

•Never reuse ammunition.

•Do not shoot at hard surfaces or at the surface of water. The pellet may bounce off or ricochet and hit someone or

something you had not intended to hit.

•Place the backstop in a location that will be safe should the backstop fail.

•Your backstop should be checked for wear before and after each use. All backstops are subject to wear and will eventually

fail. Replace your backstop if the surface is worn or damaged or if a ricochet occurs.

•Do not attempt to disassemble or tamper with your airgun. Use an Authorized Service Station. Using unauthorized repair

centers or modifying the function of your airgun in any way may be unsafe and will void your warranty.

•Always keep your CrosBlock trigger block in place when storing this airgun. Store airgun in a secure location. (See

CrosBlock instructions packaged with this airgun for assistance)

•Before you store your airgun, make sure that it is unloaded, not charged, and that the airgun is "ON SAFE."

Congratulations and thank you for purchasing the CROSMAN® Model Auto Air II .177 caliber (4.5 mm)-pellet and BB airgun.

Please read this owner's manual completely. And remember, this airgun is not a toy. Treat it with the same respect you would a

1. Learning the Parts of Your New Airgun

Learning the names of the parts of your new airgun will help you understand your owner's manual. Use this manual to increase

your enjoyment of this airgun.

2. Operating the Safety

A. To Put the Airgun "ON SAFE:"

• Locate the safety directly in front of the trigger.

• Push the safety from the left side all the way in (Fig. 2). The safety is not "ON

SAFE" unless it is pushed all the way in and the RED ring around the left side of the

safety is NOT showing.

Like all mechanical devices, an airgun safety can fail. Even when the safety is "ON

SAFE", you should continue to handle the airgun safely. NEVER point the airgun at any

person. NEVER point the airgun at anything you do not intend to shoot.

B. To Take the Airgun "OFF SAFE":

• Push the safety in from the right side.

• The airgun is ready to fire when "OFF SAFE". When you can see the RED line on

the left side of the safety, the airgun is "OFF SAFE" and can be fired.

3. Installing and Removing the CO

Cartridge

A. Installing the CO

Cartridge

• Make sure the airgun is "ON SAFE" (See Section 2A) and pointed in a SAFE DIRECTION.

• Make sure the airgun is not loaded.

• Remove the grip cover from the right side of the airgun by lifting up from the bottom edge.

• Turn the piercing lever counterclockwise to bring the piercing lever down.

• Insert a new CO

cartridge into the airgun with the small neck of the cartridge

pointing toward the piercing assembly (Fig. 3).

• Snap the right grip cover back into place.

• With your thumb and finger, turn the piercing lever clockwise raising it to pierce the

cartridge. Never use any tool on the piercing lever. Over-tightening can cause

injury to you or damage to your airgun.

• Point the airgun in a SAFE DIRECTION, take "OFF SAFE" (See Section 2B) and

pull the trigger (fire the gun). If the airgun does not make a popping noise after

pulling the trigger, the CO

is not being discharged. In that event, you will have to

repeat the process above- turn the piercing lever clockwise, point the airgun in a

SAFE DIRECTION and pull the trigger until there is a popping noise, which will

mean the airgun is releasing CO

with each pull of the trigger.

• Return the safety to the "ON SAFE" position (See Section 2A).

NOTE: We recommend the use of CROSMAN® POWERLET® CO

cartridges. They are made to fit your airgun. Other brands

of CO

cartridges may not fit properly and if you force them into place, may result in injury to you or damage to your airgun.

Never try to force any CO

cartridge into or out of place. Do not store your airgun with a CO

cartridge in it. This is very important

to remember, as it will prolong the longevity of your airgun seals.

B. Removing the CO

Cartridge

• Put the airgun "ON SAFE" (See Section 2A) and point in a SAFE DIRECTION.

• Make sure the airgun is unloaded (See Section 4B).

• With one hand, hold the airgun by the frame. With the other hand, slowly turn the piercing lever counterclockwise until you

begin to hear the CO

release. (Fig. 4)

• Remove hand from piercing lever until you do not hear any more CO

releasing.

• REMEMBER: Keep hands and face away from escaping CO

gas. It can cause frostbite if allowed to come in contact with skin.

• Repeat this process until the air stops releasing.

• Remove the grip cover from the right side of the airgun by lifting • While pointing the gun in a SAFE DIRECTION, tip the

cartridge out of the airgun.

4. Loading and Unloading BBs

A. Loading BBs

• Make sure the airgun is "ON SAFE" (See Section 2A).

• While pointing the airgun in a SAFE DIRECTION, turn it over. (Fig. 5)

• Push the BB Follower tab forward and hook it in the notch. (Fig. 5)

• Load up to 17 BBs in the BB Loading Port. Pointing the barrel up slightly allows the BBs to

roll in to the loading port. (Fig 5)

• Unhook the BB Follower tab from the notch and release it to hold the BBs in the

magazine.

B. Unloading BBs

NOTE: The airgun must be charged with CO

when following these steps but remember, do

not store your airgun with a full CO

Powerlet.

• Make sure the airgun is "ON SAFE" (See Section 2A).

• Push the BB Follower tab forward and hook it in the notch.

• Point the barrel slightly downward IN A SAFE DIRECTION and shake it. The

BBs will drop out of the loading port. (Fig. 6)

• Unhook the BB follower tab from the notch and release it.

• To ensure no more BBs are in the airgun, point the airgun in a SAFE DIRECTION,

take the airgun "OFF SAFE" (See Section 2B) and fire. NOTE: Be sure to aim at

a safe target, as you are testing to ensure no BBs are left in the airgun.

• Repeat this procedure until you are sure you are no longer firing BBs.

• Put the airgun "ON SAFE" (See 2A).

YOU AND OTHERS WITH YOU SHOULD ALWAYS WEAR SHOOTING GLASSES TO PROTECT YOUR EYES.

PERFORMANCE: Many factors can affect velocity, including brand of projectile, type of projectile, amount of CO

in cartridge

lubrication, barrel condition and temperature.

REPAIR SERVICE

If your airgun needs repair, we recommend you take or send it to your nearest Crosman Authorized Service Station. DO NOT

ATTEMPT TO DISASSEMBLE IT! Your airgun requires special tools and fixtures to repair it. Any disassembly or modification

not performed by an Authorized Service Station will void the warranty.

A SPECIAL CUSTOMER SERVICE

Crosman Authorized Service Stations will unjam your airgun at no cost during the warranty period.

LIMITED ONE YEAR WARRANTY

This product is warranted to the retail consumer for one year from date of retail purchase against defects in material and

workmanship and is transferable. To register the serial number of your airgun, please return the airgun registration form. The

warranty is not conditioned on the return of the card. You should retain the original sales receipt as record of date of purchase.

Replacement parts and labor. Transportation charges to consumer for repaired product.

Transportation charges to Authorized Service Station for product. Damages caused by abuse, modification or failure to perform
